Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) – Founded in 1979, the ADAA is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders through education, practice, and research. ADAA is a leader in education, training, and research.
Hope for Healing Florida – Established by Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis, this multi-agency mental health and substance abuse campaign has been created to help good people in crisis by leveraging the resources of Florida state agencies, private partners, and the governor’s administration.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network – The network’s mission is to raise the standard of care and improve access to services for traumatized children, their families and communities throughout the United States.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline – The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources, and best practices for professionals.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) – SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.
Grief, Loss, & Bereavement
Addressing Grief: Tips for Teachers and Administrators – Created by the National Association of School Psychologists, this resource provides strategies that can be helpful in supporting bereaved students.
American Academy of Pediatrics Disaster Preparedness Initiative provides guidelines on promoting adjustment and helping children cope.
The Coalition to Support Grieving Students has video and downloadable grief-support modules for school professionals on conversation and support, developmental and cultural considerations, practical considerations, reactions and triggers, professional preparation and self-care, and crisis and special circumstances.
The National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC) provides a network for nationwide communication between hundreds of professionals and volunteers who want to share ideas, information and resources with each other to better support the grieving children and families they serve in their own communities.
National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement (NCSCB) – NCSCB’s experts assist schools and communities in the U.S. and abroad cope in the aftermath of tragedy, playing a vital role in helping to foster resilience after crisis events.

National Center on Safe Supportive Environments is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools. The Center offers information and technical assistance to states, districts, schools, institutions of higher learning, and communities focused on improving school climate and conditions for learning. We believe that with the right resources and support, educational stakeholders can collaborate to sustain safe, engaging and healthy school environments that support student academic success.
Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative (TLPI) – TLPI’s mission is to ensure that children traumatized by exposure to family violence and other adverse childhood experiences succeed in school. To accomplish this mission, TLPI engages in a host of advocacy strategies including: providing support to schools to become trauma sensitive environments; research and report writing; legislative and administrative advocacy for laws, regulations and policies that support schools to develop trauma-sensitive environments; coalition building; outreach and education; and limited individual case representation in special education where a child’s traumatic experiences are interfacing with his or her disabilities.
